Oddworld-Web was started in September 2000 by Abe Babe. After playing Abe's Exoddus, she instantly fell in love with the game and decided to start her own site after becoming an active member of the Oddworldian Forums.

The original version of the site was unique in the way that each section was based around the design of Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus. This design was in place up until January 2005 when finally a change was made to the layout you are viewing now, to reflect the new Stranger game. Previously only small changes had been made to the site, such  as a new flash introduction screen and menu to reflect Munch's Oddysee when that game was released.

In October 2000, Oddworld-Web was awarded "5 Mudokon Heads" by Oddworld.com and to this day is still listed in the number one position on Oddworld.com's fan site rankings.

The site has also shared a good relationship with Oddworld Inhabitants, with Abe Babe being fortunate to visit Oddworld Inhabitants studios three times and has met with both Lorne Lanning and Sherry McKenna, as well as being able to preview Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath.

Up until 2004, the site was run solely by Abe Babe. However in 2004, Oddguy came on staff as a news reporter. Oddguy also helps out with content on the site, and has written most of the Stranger content that can be seen on the site.

Oddworld-Web is part of the OddNet sites, which includes Alcar's Oddworld Universe as well as Oddworld Forums and OddChat. Oddworld Forums is the most active Oddworld community on the internet.
